Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you need volunteers to setup?
The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful and functional building to hold church each week until we can secure our own building. The greatest task to using a leased facility is setting it up each week. For us to reach the Harlem/Appling area, we need people just like yourself to commit to helping us setup each week.
Your willingness to setup on a rotational basis allows us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So, our setup teams are critical, and the volunteers for setup teams are very needed. You are helping us change lives and strengthen families.
When do we meet?
We meet on Sunday mornings at 7:30 a.m. at the Harlem Middle School in Harlem, Georgia.
How long does it take to setup?
We plan for the entire setup process to take one hour and fifteen minutes. If we meet at 7:30 a.m., we plan to be finished by 8:45 a.m. We are striving to get the time down to one hour.
What type of work will I be doing?
Tasks for Everyone: Most of the work can be done by anyone and may include such tasks as placing metal chairs in rows, setting out signs, hanging curtains, and rolling supplies on carts to certain classrooms. People of all ages and abilities can do these light-weight tasks.
Other Tasks: For those who can lift some heavier objects, we do need a few people to setup a stage, move some tables, and help with lifting. Please know you will never be asked to do this work if you are not physically able to do it. Safety is our top priority.
What type of commitment am I making?
We would like to have people to commit to serve on a team.
Each team will be doing a setup every two to three weeks. So, we ask that you serve on a rotating basis with a team that consists of working every 2-3 weeks.
How will I know my schedule?
Our church staff coordinates the schedule. Each month the schedule is sent to all team members, so everyone can plan ahead and know when it is their time to serve.
In addition, each team has a captain, and the captain will contact everyone on the team the week you are to serve, as a friendly reminder.
What if I cannot serve when I am scheduled?
All you have to do is contact the church, and we will be glad to notify your team that you cannot serve as scheduled.
If you have the availability to serve on different week during that time period, we can reschedule you. If you do not have the availability, we can just postpone you until the next time you are scheduled to serve.
